Advertising with the people, not to them.

Advibe Survey

I just wanted to take the time to get a better idea of who is actually reading the blog and some things I can do to improve it.  If you all would be so kind as to take this quick survey in the link below, it would be an immense help.

Links de Mañana

Techcrunch starts off this beautiful Thursday morning with a rather dismal recap of the 2008 year in technology.  Indeed, things looked bright at the beginning but all numbers fell dramatically as the year went on, reaching lows in the month of December.

Mobile advertising finally nearing breakthrough.

The economic recession is creating opportunities for highly personal mobile advertising to take off.

Facebook is now testing its own advertising network for application developers.

Yahoo is beginning to insert video and images into the usually strictly text-based search advertising.

Twitter to add search update for users.

Potpourri Links

In the wake of Facebook’s Terms of Service change yesterday, this link explains how Facebook is taking over our lives.  I also found a really usefu site called insidefacebook.com that is dedicated to keeping marketers and developers updated on Facebook.  This post from earlier today goes pretty in-depth into branding on social networks.  It’s definitely worth a read.

Panasonic has repurposed their 103-inch plasma into a multitouch air hockey table, which turns out to be amazingly cool.

Projection advertising increasing in popularity in many major markets.

Chris Crum of webpronews.com talks a little about what areas companies believe social media can be most effective and offers a great chart by Marketingsherpa to illustrate.

Finally, a couple of links to tips from Twitter pros on how to get your tweet retweeted.  Dan Zarrella goes in-depth with a fairly elaborate retweet keyword survey and Twitip gives you the formula for retweets.  All interesting stuff if you’re into that sort of thing.

Afternoon Links

This Mashable article is really one of the most useful and information-packed posts I’ve read in a while giving you 100 ways to enhance your Youtube experience (my favorite is the section on Firefox extensions).

Social networking becomes even more integrated into the fabric of our lives as Xoopit allows you to seamlessly combine Facebook with Gmail.

A Social Computing Magazine article on 25 tips for utilizing Twitter in your business.

Another Twitter article, this one focusing on Twitter’s rise and its effect on the microblogging world.

Finally, I leave you with a couple of articles about Facebook’s ongoing plans to integrate its social networking platform into a variety of mobile phones.  The first is a Wall Street Journal article on Facebook’s talks with Nokia (a subscription is required to read the entire thing, but there’s enough to get the gist) and the sceond talks about how that relationship has become “complicated”.

Quick Links

I just wanted to share a couple of quick links I thought were interesting.  The first one talks about how Google’s new latitude service can pinpoint your location anywhere on the globe.  This would allow advertisers to basically reach their target consumers at the ideal moment.
